The We Love Steni Classic Car Show Weekend

A Weekend to Remember

On October 26th and 27th, 2024, the picturesque village of Steni transformed into the vibrant setting for the We Love Steni Classic Car Show Weekend—a gathering that brought together classic car enthusiasts and talented artisans. With over 1,500 attendees from the Paphos region and beyond, it was truly a remarkable weekend.

Organized by the We Love Steni Team and the Paphos Classic Vehicle Club, this event celebrated the spirit of hospitality and community. We Love Steni is comprised of two passionate women, Carrie from Cyprus Escapes and myself, Christina from Tis Christinas to Merraki, we poured countless hours of our own free time into making this event a success, driven by a shared love for this beautiful village. For Carrie, Steni is home, and for me, it holds a special place as my late father’s beloved village. This was our way of giving back to a community that means so much to us.

Paphos Classic Vehicle Club - A Classic Car Showcase

The weekend featured a stunning display of over 40 classic cars, each with its own unique story and history, creating a visual journey through time for attendees. Visitors marveled at these meticulously maintained vehicles, representing decades of automotive design and craftsmanship. Guests—ranging from dedicated collectors to curious newcomers—connected deeply with these beautiful machines, appreciating both their elegance and the legacy they represent.

Artisan Stalls and Unique Crafts

The event also showcased a fantastic market with over 25 artisan stalls, each highlighting the creativity and talent of local crafters. Attendees enjoyed a variety of handmade products, from exquisite jewelry and home decorations to artisanal foods and hand-knitted crafts. Many visitors commented that it was one of the best markets they’d experienced in a long time—a testament to the quality and uniqueness of the creations on display.

Supporting Charitable Causes

One of the event’s highlights was the charity scenic drives, held in memory of Dr. Stelios Stylianou, my father and a beloved figure with a deep affection for his little village of Steni. Through the generosity of participants, €450 was raised for the Ithaki Charity Organisation, which provides support for individuals affected by dementia. With a matching contribution from Dr. Stylianou’s family, the total donation reached €900, reflecting a commitment to positive community impact.

Fun for All Ages

The classic car event also offered engaging activities for younger audiences, adding to the festive atmosphere. Families enjoyed the nostalgic experience of trying to start a car with a handle—a unique opportunity that delighted both young and old. Additionally, games like SCALEXTRICS and the BUZZER GAME provided hours of enjoyment, ensuring visitors of all ages had a memorable time.

A Team Effort

The success of the We Love Steni Classic Car Show Weekend was made possible by the hard work and dedication of the We Love Steni Team, the Paphos Classic Vehicle Club, and the passionate Community Leader of Steni, Mr Elias Lambides. We are especially grateful to Petrolina for their financial support, the beloved Cyprus Chef Chryso Lefou who cooked "pissies" for everyone ont he Satruday, and Stephen Haughan for this presentation about his new novel series Peshwari Nans. Last but not least and to the many volunteers who generously contributed their time and effort to help on the day with the event.

Future Events on the Horizon

With the incredible success and positive feedback from attendees, we are excited about the potential for future events. While plans are still being finalized, there is much more in store for our community.
